6th grade
-Defense will be man to man and NO double-teaming.
-NO full-court pressure except in the remaining 2-minutes of the 4th quarter and
only by the team that is BEHIND by 10 points or less.
-Games will be four 8-minute quarters. There will be a 5- minute break at half-time.
-Coaches are allowed 3 time-outs throughout the game.
-Play will be 5 on 5.
-Only those players on a teams roster may play. If team is short players the game
will be played 4 on 4 unless agreed upon by coaches to use a player from the
school’s opposite team.
-Each player will play an EQUAL amount of time according to practices attended
and any disciplinary situations that arise.
-Players will be substituted every 4-minutes.
-A numbering system may be used by coaches to determine starters and
substitutions. Coaches will use their desired record keeping system.
-2-points will be scored on a shooting foul in the 1st and 3rd quarter. Free throws
will be shot in the 2nd and 4th quarters on a shooting foul.
-For a non-shooting foul in the game the team fouled will get the ball back except in
the last 2-minutes of play where a bonus free-throw will be shot.
-For an offensive foul in the game the defense will get the ball back.
-If a team gets 30 points ahead no more points will be added until their
lead drops to 10 points.
-Only a team score will be kept and no individual stats will be recorded.
-Overtime will be 2-minutes long and start with a jump ball. If score is tied after
1st overtime a 2nd overtime will start with a jump ball and the first team to score wins
(SUDDEN DEATH)
-All players will get a chance to start a game. The same players will not start every
game.
-All players will get a chance to play different positions.
